Background
I have enjoyed creative work for so long, often spending hours using the level editors in various games. As I learned more about games over the years, it became natural to critique and dissect, but with critique can come dissatisfaction, and a desire to fix things yourself. Such things have driven me to pursue a profession in game creation, and I understand it may not be quick or easy, but I love the process of making games, and I love the end result.
Starting Unity
I started using Unity back in... well it looks like the file dates have been ruined, so I guess I don't really know when, but 2016 seems close enough. I started by making some still unfinished projects. Then I decided to actually finish what I worked on next. I didn't want to set my goals too lofty, so I set my sights on what I thought was the low bar of a mobile game.
HUE Trials - Bacteria Adventure
HUE Trials was what I started to create. I wanted to make a game that was actually designed for touchscreen, as opposed to using a virtual gamepad on the screen. At the start there was only the black and white mechanics in the game, but I wasn't satisfied with that for whatever reason, and ended up working on the game for 3 years. It was my goal to make it not feel like a shallow mobile game, and after I was satisfied, I released it on Android. However, nobody seemed to care about it, and it sat stagnate for 2 years.
Six Shooter - Gun Duel
During that time I made Six Shooter, which was very enjoyable to work on after only doing HUE Trials for so long. Its pseudo pixel art style may make me question my sanity sometimes, but it was fun to work on, and I really like the end result.
Project Peregrine (WIP)
I also had plans to make a full sized PC game, Project Peregrine, but tons of IRL stuff has made me put it off. The computer I worked on almost left this earth, but I was able to retrieve all my data and continue making it. The Project Peregrine videos I have are not up to date with its progress, though its not that much further along (looking back I only released a single video, lol). I don't feel like I've gotten it to the point of being fun, so it might require a complete rework once I get back to it.
The return of HUE Trials
When I first released HUE Trials, it was US only. I was very concerned with the legal side of the launch, and avoided other countries because of the possible privacy infractions. Since then, I have gained the courage to deal with such issues. I did a complete redesign of the HUE Trials menu systems and launched globally 2021-06-18 on Android. A friendly stranger who tried it through a Reddit post suggested making a browser version, and that lead me here to itch.io.
Here's HUE Trials. Check it out!
Now
I hope to actually interact with others more on sites like this. My aversion to posting on social media has really shot me in the foot. At the moment hardly anyone has tried my games. If you made it this far through my profile page, wow. Thank you for taking the time. Please check out my games, but most of all have fun!
